Why you should make fried chicken breast
Cooking a fried chicken breast at home allows you to control the quality of the ingredients. It is much tastier than store bought versions and takes very little time to prepare. The combination of seasoned breadcrumbs and hot oil creates a golden crust that everyone enjoys. This method ensures a reliable result every time you want a satisfying meal.
Follow these 4 steps for fried chicken breast
Prepare the chicken: Start by cutting the chicken breasts into even pieces or leave them whole if they are thin. Season the meat with salt and pepper on both sides to ensure good flavour. Place the flour in one bowl, a beaten egg in another and breadcrumbs in a third bowl.
Coat the meat: Dip each piece of chicken into the flour until it is fully covered. Shake off any excess before dipping it into the beaten egg. Finally, press the chicken into the breadcrumbs so the coating sticks well to the surface.
Fry until golden: Heat the oil in a large frying pan over medium heat. Place the breaded meat in the pan and cook for about five minutes on each side. The fried chicken breast should be golden brown and cooked through to the centre.
Drain and serve: Remove the pieces from the pan and place them on kitchen paper to remove any extra oil. Let the meat rest for a couple of minutes before serving to keep the juices inside. Serve the meal immediately while the crust is still very crispy.
Good advice for fried chicken breast
Make sure the oil is hot enough before adding the meat to the pan to prevent the coating from getting greasy. You can test the heat by dropping a few breadcrumbs into the oil to see if they sizzle. Do not crowd the pan as this will lower the temperature and stop the fried chicken breast from becoming crunchy.
If the meat is very thick, you can flatten it with a rolling pin for even cooking. Using panko breadcrumbs will give an even crispier texture than standard ones. Always check that the internal temperature is safe before you finish cooking.
