Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal data is processed when you visit easy-recipes.co.uk, why it is processed and what rights you have. We collect as little data as possible: you do not need an account, and there are no forms on the site. There are currently no adverts and no Google Analytics on the site.

Who is responsible for your data

The controller of personal data for easy-recipes.co.uk is Easy Recipes. If you have any questions about your personal data, you can e-mail us at [email protected].

What data we process and why

When you visit the site

The site runs on Cloudflare. When you open a page, Cloudflare receives technical data such as your IP address, the browser you use and the page you visit. This is needed to show you the page and to protect the site against overload and attacks. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure website (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR).

Cookie-free visitor statistics (Cloudflare Web Analytics)

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views and to see which pages are read and where visitors come from. This works without cookies and without storing anything in your browser, and Cloudflare does not use the data to recognise you from one visit to the next or across websites. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR).

When you rate a recipe

You can rate a recipe from 1 to 5 stars. To stop the same person from voting several times, we keep an encrypted identifier (a so-called hash) for 30 days, calculated from your IP address and the recipe. Your IP address itself is not stored, and the identifier cannot be used to find out who you are. Your browser also stores the fact that you have voted, so the stars show as given on your next visit. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in keeping ratings trustworthy (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR).

When you e-mail us

If you send us an e-mail, we use your e-mail address and the content of your message to reply to you. We keep the message for as long as it takes to deal with your request and then delete it. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in answering questions and correction requests (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR).

Share buttons

Recipe pages have buttons for sharing a recipe, for example on Facebook, Pinterest or WhatsApp. These are ordinary links: nothing is loaded from those services and no data is sent to them until you press a button. After sharing, the terms and privacy policy of that service apply.

Cookies and data stored in your browser

The site does not currently use cookies. If we introduce adverts or statistics that need cookies, we will ask for your consent first and update this policy.

Who processes the data?

We never sell personal data. The data is processed by the service provider we use to run the site:

  • Cloudflare – hosting, security, cookie-free visitor statistics and storage of ratings.

Cloudflare may process data in the United States. Transfers take place under the UK Extension to the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (the "UK-US data bridge"), which Cloudflare has signed up to, and under the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep data

  • The encrypted identifier for ratings: 30 days.
  • E-mails: as long as needed to deal with your request, then deleted.
  • The rating information in your browser: until you delete it.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 you have the right to:

  • find out what personal data we process about you and get a copy of it,
  • have incorrect data corrected,
  • have your data erased,
  • object to processing based on legitimate interest,
  • ask us to restrict the processing of your personal data.

E-mail us at [email protected] if you want to use your rights. If you think we are processing your data unlawfully, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

We update this policy when we change something on the site that affects your personal data. Last updated: 23 October 2026.
