Air Fryer Frozen Baguettes

Air fryer frozen baguettes go from freezer to table in about quarter of an hour, with no waiting for the oven to heat up. The hot, fast-moving air crisps the crust while the inside turns soft and warm, much like a bakery loaf. This method is written for part-baked (bake-at-home) mini baguettes, and a brush of melted butter adds shine and flavour.

Common mistakes with air fryer frozen baguettes

The usual problems are an over-full basket, bread that touches the sides and a dark top with a doughy middle. Part-baked bread needs room: leave a finger's width between the pieces, and cut any baguette that is longer than the basket in half rather than curling it up.

Most air fryers come with a standard basket of about 4–5.5 litres, which holds two mini baguettes comfortably. If you are cooking more, do them in batches and allow about 8 minutes for each. Brands vary, so check the bread a couple of minutes before the timer ends.

The method for air fryer frozen baguettes

Tap a time to start a timer.

  1. Preheat Heat the air fryer to 180°C for . Meanwhile, unwrap the baguettes straight from the freezer; do not defrost them.
  2. Fit the basket If a baguette is longer than your basket, cut it in half with a bread knife while it is still frozen, or lay it diagonally. Keep the pieces in a single layer with a gap between them, so the hot air can circulate.
  3. Cook Cook at 180°C for , turning them over after . Check at , because some brands brown faster. They are done when the crust is deep golden and sounds crisp when tapped.
  4. Butter and rest Lift them out with tongs and brush with the melted butter straight away. Leave for to let the steam settle before slicing, then serve warm.

What to serve with them

Serve the baguettes warm with soup, a salad or pasta. They are good with air fryer frozen lasagne, and for a garlicky version try air fryer garlic baguettes. For a breakfast option cooked the same way, see air fryer frozen croissants.

Common problems and fixes for Air Fryer Frozen Baguettes

The top is dark but the middle is pale and doughy.
The baguette sat too close to the heating element or the loaf is thick. Drop the temperature to 160°C and add 2–3 minutes, and turn the bread halfway through.
The crust is too hard.
Bake for a minute or two less and brush with butter or olive oil as soon as it comes out. The fat softens the crust.
The baguettes are unevenly cooked.
They were touching or overlapping. Leave a gap between pieces and cook in two batches if your basket is small, adding 8 minutes per extra batch.

Frequently asked questions about Air Fryer Frozen Baguettes

Do I need to defrost frozen baguettes first?

No. Cook them straight from frozen. Defrosting makes part-baked bread soggy and it will not crisp up in the same way.

How do I cook them in the oven instead?

Bake on a tray at 200°C (180°C fan), gas 6, for 10–12 minutes, turning once, or follow the packet instructions.

Can I make garlic bread this way?

Yes. Stir 1 crushed garlic clove and a tablespoon of chopped parsley into the melted butter and brush it on after cooking. For a ready-made version, see air fryer garlic baguettes.

What if my packet says something different?

Follow the packet for the brand you bought, because par-baked baguettes vary in size. Use the times here as a starting point and check a couple of minutes early.
